Abstract
|
|
|
An attempt was made to isolate the salmonella species by pus specimens between 1971 and 1972 at the Department of Microbiology, National Medical Center.
Seven strains of salmonella was isolated from pus, specimens obtained from focal lesion such as ascitis with teratoma, buttock abscess, Baker´s cyst, spondylitis, vaginal abscess, abscess due to multiple fracture and pleurisy.
Out of 7 strains of salmonella, 4 strains of salmonella typhi, 1 strain of salmonella paratyphi B, 1 strain of salmonella typhimurium and 1 strain of salmonella Newport were identified, respectively.
In the sensitivities to various antibiotics, all strains were varied from strain to strain in sensitivity but insensitive to erythromycin.
